A growing telecommunications company based in Ithaca, NY specializing in providing high speed internet, digital phone service, and other IP related products, over a private Fiber Backbone.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The technician will be responsible for quality workmanship during the installation of fiber and ethernet services. The technician will preferably have at least 1 year experience in installing and testing cable and fiber internet, but the company is willing to train the right person.

Candidates must have a valid driver’s license, and clean driving record.
Candidates must be able to work overtime.
Responsible for Installing, servicing, and disconnecting internet customers.
Ability or willingness to learn to use small hand tools, and larger power tools. Must be comfortable working on a ladder and all heights.
Ability or willingness to learn to install both clear curve fiber optic cable, and Cat5 drop wire.
Ability or willingness to learn to install connectors on Cat5 drop wire.
Ability or willingness to learn to troubleshoot internet problems from any telecommunications mark to customer premise equipment.
Ability or willingness to learn to install and configure customer’s routers, and optical modems, for internet operations.
Ability or willingness to learn to test and tone all drop wires from utility pole splice point to end user location.
Must be able to work with or without direct supervision.

Physical Demands:
Lifting of 50 pounds and occasional attic and/or basement work

Work Environment:
Single family homes, multi dwelling homes and/or telecommunication rooms.
