Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team.

The position involves handling, inspecting, and cleaning optical glass materials, ensuring accuracy and quality. In general, work is to be performed in support of ‘Evaporated Metal Films’, a division of Omega Optical to perform this job successfully one must be able to complete all areas outlined in this position in a satisfactory manner.

SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Ability to handle optics/glass

Ability to clean optics/glass

· Handling and Storage: Safely handle and store raw materials, including optical glass blanks, lenses, and other optical elements.

· Inspection: Inspect optical glass for defects, ensuring they meet quality standards and specifications.

· Cleaning: Preparing and thoroughly cleaning all materials according to specifications

· Quality Assurance: Verify the accuracy and quality of cut lenses and optical elements using precision instruments.

· Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of production metrics, quality checks, and equipment performance.

· Safety: Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

· Collaboration: Collaborate with the production team to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.

· Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot minor issues on cutting equipment and perform basic maintenance.

Technical Skills:

· Knowledge of optical glass materials and their properties.

· Proficiency in quality inspections

· Proficiency in optical cleaning

· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

· Familiarity with precision instruments and measurement tools.

Soft Skills:

· Attention to detail and accuracy.

· Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Strong work ethic and commitment to safety.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Training:

Extensive background with materials used in protective coatings for optical components, together with vacuum equipment capability, is preferred.

Experience:

A degree in materials, chemistry metallurgy or physics is desirable, not required

Knowledge/Skills:

Must be capable of assessing variations in processes, materials, analyze data and resolve problems.

Handling various materials and glass.

Supervises: None

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

The position requires peer interaction 30%, equipment usage 50%, walking /standing/sitting 20%

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Operates in a manufacturing facility with heavy emphasis on vacuum equipment together with handling of glass and chemical

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 – $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
